Soap nuts, which are the size of grapes, contain saponin, a natural surfactant which is used to clean clothes. Soap nuts have become popular as an environmentally friendly alternative to conventionally manufactured laundry detergents. Instructions for use: place 3 soap nuts in the small cloth bag and put in with your normal wash. No laundry detergent needed! For consecutive washes, always start with cold water first as hot water removes more of the soap from the shells. Soap nuts are safe for washing silk, woolens, and other delicate fabrics. 3 shells will do 3-4 loads. Like most conventional laundry detergents, soap nuts are not meant for heavy-duty stain removal, but are an excellent alternative for your everyday washing needs. The pack is suitable for 20 loads.
