These fair trade t-shirts printed with water-based ink advertise an important answer to the longstanding question we all get at the grocery store "Paper or plastic bag?" The answer is that neither of these is better.
With paper bags, sure they're biodegradable, but the forests and the atmosphere of the earth are degraded when trees are cut down to make paper bags.
With plastic you've got a savior for the trees, but also a flimsy mostly single use piece of plastic that kills animals in the wild and will basically never biodegrade. Plus the production of plastic involves all kinds of unsavory and polluting chemical processes and energy consumption.
Recycling of either is virtually a lie, and of course requires more energy consumption.
Wear these shirts while grocery shopping (with canvas bags also available with the the same design of course) and help spread the message to other customers that they should not use paper or plastic bags.
The message goes beyond just grocery shopping also. Picnics? How about plastic silverware and paper plates? Just say no! etc., etc.
