When you learn how many toxic pesticides and chemicals go into the cultivation and production of cotton, you'll be appalled! One set of queen size sheets made from conventionally grown cotton requires about 1½ pounds of agricultural chemicals, including pesticides, herbicides and synthetic fertilizers. Cotton is the most heavily sprayed field crop in the world – not what you want to wrap yourself and your family up in every night! We could go on and on about the dangers of this extreme pesticide use. And, remember, cotton is not just for fabric. By-products include cottonseed oil, used in a multitude of food products; and cottonseed, a livestock feed considered a good source of protein.
